Started small. Growing, one happy client at a time.
Silai Atelier began in 2026 with a sewing table, a good eye, and one quiet belief: that a woman anywhere in Kenya deserves clothing made with the same care as anywhere in the world. We started with a small circle of friends and neighbours — a hand-finished poncho here, a custom appliqué piece there — and a promise to never hand over a piece we wouldn't be proud to wear ourselves.
Word travelled the way good things do here: gently, from one satisfied client to the next. What was a side table soon became a proper little atelier, filled with fabric we'd chosen by hand and pieces we'd finished late into the evening. We stayed small on purpose — because staying small is how we keep knowing your name, your size, and the fit you love.
Today we're still a young, growing house, and proud of it. Every garment that leaves our door carries a bit of that first table with it: made with patience, delivered in person, and worn, we hope, with a little more confidence than before. This is only the beginning — and we're so glad you're here for it.
